Dementia Care at Grafton Lodge
Grafton Lodge is a warm, friendly, family-orientated home providing a safe and secure environment for your loved ones who suffer from dementia, including Alzheimer’s. The word ‘dementia’ describes a set of symptoms that can include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language. A person with dementia may also experience changes in their mood or behaviour.
We are extremely fortunate to have our very own, in-house activities and well-being coordinator. Such activity coordinators play a central role in delivering purposeful activities that stimulate residents and improve their well-being. We provide a range of stimulating activities to keep the residents both active and stimulated. Examples include karaoke sessions, magic shows, physical activities and art and crafts to name but a few.
We recently had an artist paint a mock-up of a traditional Post-Office. Such murals can help residents recognise areas and encourage certain behaviours that allow them stay calm and happy. Local scenes also promote a feeling of familiarity.
